Plate I · a garden of block heights

Every block height has a flower.

Type the height of a block you remember — or any whole number — and a specimen grows from it. The same number always grows the same flower.

Grow a specimen

A flower specimen
Specimen No. 0 Genesis bloom Height 0 is the genesis block, mined on 3 January 2009.

From 0 to 99,999,999. Nothing is looked up — the number itself is the seed.

The next six heights

A short row in the bed: the six blocks that follow your number. Choose one to grow it on the plate.

Notes for the gardener

One number, one flower

Choose a height that means something to you: the block that held your first transaction, a halving you watched, or simply your favourite number. Share the link, and anyone who opens it sees the same bloom.

Why a garden?

Bitcoin keeps its own slow clock. A new block arrives roughly every ten minutes on average, and no amount of impatience brings the next one sooner. Gardens work the same way. This site does not track prices or give advice — it's a place to look at something that grows at its own pace.

How the flowers grow

Each number seeds a small random-number generator. From it come the petal count, the rings, the petal shape, the palette, the bend of the stem, and the leaves. Seeds in the centre sit at the golden angle, about 137.5° apart — the spiral that many real seed heads, such as sunflowers, follow.

Nothing is fetched

The garden doesn't connect to the Bitcoin network or to anything else. It doesn't know what was inside a block — only its number. Every flower is drawn in your browser, and downloads are plain SVG files you can print at any size.
